The sector, as a whole, has attracted Foreign investment worth US$ 10 billion since 2000. Most major hotel chains have their expansion plans lined up over the next 3 – 5 years as the Government’s E-Visa scheme shall only lead to a surge in the overall business. Record number of foreign tourist arrivals (10 million foreign tourists arrived in India in 2017-18) coupled with the ever-increasing domestic tourism and air travel is leading the uptrend in the sector. The Mid Segment Hotels have led the growth of Hotel organisations in the last decade to the extent that most major International Hotel chains have introduced their Mid-segment and budget brands in the country. Domestic players including Taj Hotels have followed suit.

Food and Beverage Service has been a burgeoning segment over the last few years. With an increase in International travel, Indian consumers have come of age and are ready to experiment with varied cuisines and flavours. F&B entrepreneurs have faster access to capital for investment and growth and hence, are able to source the best ingredients from within the country and abroad. Expat Master chefs are being hired for the first time outside of Hotels hence, creating the most authentic culinary experiences.
